Biography

Dr. Chen joined the USF faculty on August 29, 2011. He is the Interim Chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Data Science, Professor of Biostatistics, Concentration Lead, and Director of Study Design & Data Analysis (SDDA) at the College of Public Health. He provides biostatistical review for NIH clinical trial applications. Dr. Chen has published more than 160 research articles and have been involved in more than 50 clinical trials, with seven being NIH-funded endeavors. His biostatistics paper, “How Big Is a Big Odds Ratio” has been widely cited by medical and public health researchers, with over 2,200 citations to date. His collaborations with investigators at Columbia University and USF have resulted in more than 25 funded research projects, with 18 being NIH-funded endeavors. Dr. Chen has taught 'Clinical Trials: Design, Conduct, and Analysis,' 'Fundamentals of Clinical Trials,' 'Biostatistics I & II,' 'Multilevel Data Analysis and Modeling,' 'Epidemiological Methods,' and 'Biostatistical Case Studies and Collaboration I & II' courses.
